We do all things power steering, but we offer a service to set the whole vehicle up.  That’s everything from correct shocks to fit the suspension, wheel alignment, steering gears, steering pumps, and we reset the geometry of the entire truck.

It’s all about getting the truck rolling straight, which improves fuel and tyre economy and reduce driver fatigue.

If you set steering up correctly, old mate is not working the steering anymore, it’ll just run straight. The other thing we go for, when we get the alignment and everything right, is to get the truck rolling straight which improves the economy.  It’s driver fatigue that’s greatly improved as well as economy improvements from two percent to seven percent depending on the customer. As far as the customer is concerned, it’s also about getting the life they should out of their tyres, too.

If you’re on the highway and the truck is set up right, you can get 200,000 kilometres out of tyres, and we get customers getting nearly 300,000 kilometres.

Steering needs minimum service requirements, but once we set the truck up properly, we tell our customers we don’t want to see them for at least 600,000 kilometres. Unless they hit something on the road that’s big enough to mess up the alignment.
